The trajectory for Dr. Dog began when Scott McMicken (guitars/vocals) met Toby Leaman (bass) in the eighth grade. After years of garage banding their way through basement and barn shows, Dr. Dog officially proclaimed their presence with their 1999 debut album, Psychedelic Swamp. Their highly experimental approach to their craft led them into their own novel style through the creative process of writing and recording several albums. But the Philadelphia sensations were launched out of their local scene when a friend got one of their albums into the hands of My Morning Jacket’s Jim James. The band has since shared the stage with My Morning Jacket, Wilco and the Raconteurs and has made a name for themselves on late night TV. Now, headlining tours, Dr. Dog is actively showcasing their 2010 Anti- Records debut album, Shame Shame.
