About LiveOntheGreen

LiveOntheGreen is a free concert series to be held every Thursday evening between September 3rd and October 8th in Public Square Plaza adjacent to the Nashville's Metropolitan Courthouse. This event will highlight local artists as well as national acts with roots in Music City. The music will appeal to a large cross section of our community and will represent some of the best talent that our city and country have to offer.

The backdrop for LiveOntheGreen is Nashville's historic Courthouse. The venue houses one of Nashville's only green roofs, calling attention to one of our city prized green features. The green roof is a state of the art structure, which sits on top of a five level subterranean parking garage and incorporates a rainwater collection system used to irrigate the green roof throughout the year. LiveOntheGreen will incorporate a number of environmental conservation practices including: recycling, composting, reusable materials, healthy food vendors, and organic merchandising. We are working hard to ensure that the concert series has a low carbon footprint, so while we celebrate our music, we'll also be celebrating our planet.

LiveOntheGreen is partnering with Mayor Karl Dean's Office and Metro Nashville to enhance the relationships between the music industry, Metro government and our community. Because of this strong partnership and the central location, LiveOntheGreen will be a high profile celebration attracting Music City's dedicated music fans. Music is a key component of Nashville's identity and LiveOntheGreen will spotlight some of Nashville's best musical talent.

Recycling

Recycling will be available and encouraged at LiveOntheGreen.  EarthSavers, LLC is a recycling collection service provider that aids businesses, government entities, institutions, food services, and residences in recycling as much of their waste as is possible.  They offer professional service that is customized, secure, reliable, and courteous.  In 2008 they recycled over 2.6 million pounds of mateiral from over 1200 customers in the metropolitan Nashville area.

In 2008 EarthSavers partnered with Metro Nashville Public Works to provide subscription curbside recycling service to the General Services District (GSD).  The GSD is the outlying area of Davidson County and does not receive the city's curbside recycling service.  The GSD curbside pilot program launched in Bellevue in March 2009 and currently serves 750 Bellevue residents.  Metro Public Works and EarthSavers are now preparing to expand the service to other areas of the GSD beginning in Fall 2009.
The residential curbside service collects paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, Styrofoam, and glass.  Signing up for service is easy at www.recyclenashville.com  If EarthSavers is already serving your area, they can begin right away.  If not, join the waiting list and service will begin as soon as enough have signed up.  North Williamson County is currently in the service area as well.

EarthSavers also provides comprehensive recycling service for offices, restaurants, medical facilities, hotels, convention centers - the list goes on and on.  They work with businesses to create a customized recycling plan, and offer services beyond typical recycling collection - SECURE document recycling, environmental reporting, online account access, battery collection, and more.
